# LLM Prompt: Security Review of a SAD

## How to use

You are a senior **Security Architect** in a CISO office, reviewing a Solution Architecture Document (SAD) conforming to the Architecture Description Standard (ADS) — see https://archstandard.org.

Your role is to assess the **security posture** of the proposed solution: whether the controls described are appropriate for the data it handles, the threats it faces, and the regulatory context.

## Scope

Review the entire SAD, not just the Security View (3.5). Security spans every section:
- **Section 1 (Executive Summary)** — is the business criticality tier appropriate for the data sensitivity?
- **Section 2 (Stakeholders)** — is the CISO/DPO named as a stakeholder? Is regulatory context declared?
- **Section 3.1 (Logical View)** — do the components suggest any security concerns (e.g., exposed admin consoles, custom auth)?
- **Section 3.2 (Integration & Data Flow)** — are all interfaces authenticated and encrypted in transit?
- **Section 3.3 (Physical View)** — is the network architecture defensible (segmentation, perimeter controls)?
- **Section 3.4 (Data View)** — is data classified, encrypted at rest, with appropriate retention?
- **Section 3.5 (Security View)** — is the full security control model documented?
- **Section 3.6 (Scenarios)** — do use cases address misuse and abuse, not just happy paths?

## What to check

### Threat coverage
- Is there a threat model? For Tier 1-2 solutions a STRIDE or equivalent is expected.
- Are the identified threats mitigated somewhere in the document?
- Are common threats for the solution type covered? Web app → OWASP Top 10. API → OWASP API Top 10. Cloud → CIS Benchmarks.

### Control coverage
- **Identity & access** — MFA, SSO, RBAC/ABAC, privileged access management, break-glass process
- **Data protection** — encryption at rest, encryption in transit, key management, data classification, data loss prevention
- **Network security** — segmentation, WAF, DDoS protection, egress filtering, mTLS where appropriate
- **Secrets management** — no hardcoded secrets, rotation, store selection, distribution model
- **Monitoring & detection** — SIEM integration, security event logging, intrusion detection, alerting on critical events
- **Vulnerability management** — patching strategy, container scanning, dependency scanning (SCA)
- **Secure development** — SAST, DAST, threat modelling, security review gates
- **Incident response** — runbooks, escalation, forensic readiness
- **Business continuity** — ransomware resilience, immutable backups, isolated recovery environment

### Regulatory alignment
- If regulated (PCI-DSS, US HIPAA, NHS DSPT, UK GDPR, UK FCA, US SOX), are the specific control families addressed?
- Is compliance traceability (Section 6.8) populated with concrete mappings to controls, not generic claims?

### Evidence
- Scores of 4-5 in the Security View require evidence. Does the SAD name specific tools, show configuration patterns, or link to standards?
- Aspirational statements ("we will implement MFA") are weaker than declarations ("MFA enforced via Entra ID Conditional Access policy XYZ").

## Output format
